I'm Coming Home

This is back from my trip to Salinas a few weeks ago.

That's me in the picture, in case you were wondering. I went to go find an old bench that used to sit under a tree. I remember the bench was next to poison oak, so we could never sit on it, but carved in to the bench was a dedication to someone.

Now the bench has been reduced to a couple of wood planks..if I didn't know any better, I wouldn't have known it was a bench at all. Amazing what 10 years does!

This was taken in the grassy hills of my old neighborhood on the outskirts of Salinas (CA). I always loved the late winter and spring when the hills would be nice and green like this. And with little poison oak, I was free to roam wherever I pleased! Oh the good 'ol days. Only had to look out for rattlesnakes and one year I even found scorpion claws (either shed or something ate them).

In the distance you can see some of the fields, and even further the hills on the far side of the valley. They had snow on them that day; a rarity. It SNOWED in SALINAS! That practically never happens.

Sharing 'cause I quite like the grass, and thought it was a nice self-portrait, haha. I don't quite look nice, but it shows some things I love.
